Grace Peter Charitable Trust is a not-for-profit and non-religious voluntary organization established by a team of committed individuals having the same vision of serving the society. The trust is running successfully for 11 years in its path of development intervention for the poor and needy from rural and urban areas and Environmental and Climate Change activities Madurai district. So far, 16553 target members have benefited by our Trust activities

• Project Implementation

We reach the communities of “the last mile” – those who are economically and socially outside the reach of main stream services and support including the hard to reach rural population and other vulnerable and marginalized groups, prioritizing the women and children; living in slums, on streets, as bonded labor, dropped out-of-school, HIV/AIDS infected Women and Children, etc.

We initiate sustainable process of empowerment through organizing these marginalized communities, especially women, around their own major issues in the form of Institutions and by helping they build their capacities.

We lay emphasis on assisting the village level community institutions/ SHGs to find local solutions to the basic needs on the informed choices and on principles of equality and sustainability.

Having formed around 75 Self Help Groups, in over 30 villages, we are now in the process of reaching out to more villages while consolidating our community mobilization efforts by forming area level federations.

Through networks of women SHGs and NGOs working in the field of Health and Sanitation, education, environment, women empowerment, livelihood support and legal aid, we are seeking to influence the policies of the Government to facilitate decentralization and broader participation.
