Founded in 2002, Sustainable Travel International (STI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, dedicated to providing education and outreach services that help travelers, travel providers and destinations support environmental conservation and protect cultural heritage while promoting cross-cultural understanding and economic development. Whether you are new to sustainability or looking for an endorsement from a trusted organization, Sustainable Travel International can help. We have been at the forefront of the sustainable tourism certification movement since 2002. We offer solutions for businesses of all sizes in all sectors, and we are committed to offering the best value available. All of our standards are aligned with the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria and have been developed transparently in collaboration with the travel and tourism industry.STI has developed the Sustainable Tourism Eco-Certification Program (STEP) and a Self-assessment Tool. STEP is the world's first comprehensive, global sustainable tourism eco-certification program offered by a non-profit organization, which is aligned with the minimum baseline Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria (GSTC) and impending global accreditation.
