The Bonsucro TM - Better Sugar Cane Initiative (BSI) is a private, non-governmental, not-for-profit initiative dedicated to ensure that sugar cane and its derived production, processing and milling are sustainable, reducing undesirable environmental and social impacts. The BSI has developed a standard for certification that is still being tested on the field.
*The Bonsucro standard is based on a metric approach,
relying on specific indicators to measure environmental
and societal impacts of sugar cane production.
* Bonsucro has elaborated specific programs, strategies
and tools that take into consideration the regional, national and local conditions of sugar cane production.
